NEW this year.......

The top competitors in each division will qualify to compete at our "Ultimate Cowboy Challenge Finals" to be
held August 13th, at the Newaygo County Fair, in Fremont.   We will most likely take the top 7-9 competitors
from each division.

Here's your chance to show off how you and your horse can work as a team!!

There will be a series of "Cowboy Tuff" obstacles in the arena that you will have to complete within a certain time limit.   You will be
judged on overall horsemanship while completing the obstacle, and the quietness and willingness of your equine partner.  Time will
be kept, however the judges will be focusing on proper horsemanship, which means you go as fast as your horse is ready for.
Pushing your horse too fast through an obstacle may end up costing you points with the judges, on the other hand, going through
the course without pushing your horse up to his full potential may also cost you points.

The fastest run in each division will be awarded with 15 extra points, the second fastest will get 10 points added, and the third
fastest will get 5 additional points added to their score, no other points will be given for time consideration.

Obstacles will be designed to challenge your horsemanship skills, and the skills of your horse.

Some of the sample obstacles may be:   Drag a log, rope a dummy, work a gate, load horse in trailer, cross bridge, and so on.

3 different divisions:  Youth - 15 and under (starting promptly at 10 a.m.)
Novice -  any age, non professionals (basically anyone that hasn't made money working with horses)
Open - open to all competitors, will be the toughest course for sure.

All divisions will have at least 10 obstacles to complete, each division will get slightly harder than the one before it.

Entries:       Youth - $20
                  Novice - $25
                  Open - $30

There will be cash prizes resulting from a 50% payback in each division based upon entries.

Sample payback:
